192.168.0.100 Administrator Login – Router Configuration

The 192.168.0.100 is a private IP address that is used by people all around the world in their private networks. Various router manufacturers have assigned this IP address to their devices. This is not a common IP address as it is not accessible by everyone on the internet or the people connected to your private network.

Now,  the question is that with the help of the 192.168.0.100 IP address, how can you establish a secure network? All the essential steps and methods are given here and you have to go through them carefully. In addition to that, you will also come to know about the details of securing the network and its devices as well.

Configure the Router

Being the default IP address of the router is 192.168.0.100, most of the time, it won’t come pre-configured. Just locate the address as it can be written either at the backside or the bottom of the device. Now, turn the attention towards your computer or any mobile device. As per the experts, the computer will be much preferable.

Connect the router to your computer and plug in the main internet cable into the WAN port. Now, power up the router and wait for some time till it reaches the ready state. Make sure all the LEDs are lit to state that the router is functioning correctly. Now, open your system’s default browser.

Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer is the default browser of Windows and Safari is the default browser of Macintosh OS. Open the browser and type the IP address in the address bar. Press the Enter key to open the router login page. Most of the login page ID and password is set to default. So, you don’t have to worry, just click on Login.

Now, the router management page appears. Search for the network tab and find out the place where you have to enter the login credentials. Hopefully, you have all the network credentials like IP address, DNS, subnet mask, default gateway and others. Put them at their desired place and save them.

The Password for Security

A strong password will not only safeguard the router but also the private IP address. Always set a password with a length of 16 characters. Make sure that the entire password contains lowercase and uppercase letters. In addition to that, it must contain numbers and special characters. This type of password is not easily broken by unauthorized users. You can also set the name of the router so that you can easily identify it.

Finding the Device IP address

If you have accidentally forgotten the device IP address, then the Command Prompt will help you to find it. Open the Command Prompt and type “ipconfig”. It will show all the list of active connections on your computer. The router’s IP address is located at the default gateway. For future preferences, write it down somewhere.

Can the Router Automatically detect the IP?

As the router’s default IP address is 192.168.0.100, it has the ability to detect the network IP address automatically. This type of function only happens when you are using a static network IP. The static network IP address comes pre-configured from the internet service provider.

How can you avoid IP conflicts?

The IP address belongs to the DHCP address of the router. If the IP doesn’t fall in the category of the DHCP, then there is a high chance that you might face the situation of the IP conflict. Make sure the network mask starts from the minimum to maximum value of the IP address. The minimum value of the IP address is 0 and the maximum is 255.

The start address will never exceed the further limit than the subnet. Now, if you talk about the clients that are connected to the router, the numbers should be limited and must be assigned to the automatic synchronization of the network IP address.

Troubleshooting the Router

When you cannot connect to the router with the 192.168.0.100, then the device itself might be facing a troublesome situation, so reboot the router. If still, the problem persists, then you need to reset the router. The resetting procedure is not that difficult, just grab a pen or a paper clip. In case you are using a paper clip, you have to strengthen it.

The reset button is located at the backside of the router. With the help of the paper clip or the pen, press and hold the reset button for 8 to 10 seconds unless and until the LED lamps flash. This is the indication of the router restart. Wait for a couple of minutes. Now, open the router’s user interface or the management page to reconfigure the router.

Moreover, taking care of the router is your prior responsibility. In the case of natural calamities, always switch it off to avoid permanent damage. Never give away the router password to someone apart from your family members and close friends.

If you do so, there will be a greater chance of your network being hacked. If you and some other people are working together, then try to use a LAN that is being secured by the VPN. The firewall of the VPN will protect the network from unauthorized access.
